Applications are open for National Honor Society. National Honor Society is an organization that focuses on scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Juniors with a cumulative GPA of 88% above are eligible to apply. Applications are due by March 27, 2017.
Joining National Honor Society is a good way for juniors to build up their resumes before applying to college. National Honor Society also gives out scholarships to seniors. Students who are accepted will attend an induction ceremony in the spring.
National Honor Society members are required to do at least eight hours of community service over the course of the next year.
Junior Alivia Collins is applying for the National Honor Society. She said, “I think [it] will be a good experience for me. I will be able to experience new leadership roles and I also think that it will be a chance to do service that I haven’t done before.”
To meet the service requirement, she said, “I plan to volunteer for all Saints Academy. The school gave me so much and I would like to give back to them through my volunteer work. I am also planning on volunteering for a local track team called Team Prefo.”
Applications include an online application as well as two signed letters of recommendation. Juniors who think they are eligible to apply who have not received an invitation should see Ms. McMinn or Mr. Rich in the humanities office.
